Multi-Branch Gyms: What Actually Needs Central Management
The jump from one gym to two is where a lot of owners quietly lose visibility. Everything that used to be "in the owner's head" for a single location suddenly needs to work across two front desks, two staff teams, and two sets of members — and deciding what to centralize is the actual hard part.
Centralize membership plans and pricing
A member shouldn't get a different deal depending on which branch happens to process their sign-up. Plans, pricing, and billing rules belong at the gym level, applied consistently across every branch.
Keep attendance and staff scoped to their own branch
A front-desk hire at Branch A generally shouldn't need to see Branch B's staff schedule or attendance log. Branch-scoped access keeps day-to-day operations simple for the people actually working there.
Roll reports up, don't force owners to add them manually
The owner still needs the whole picture — total revenue, total attendance, member growth — without manually combining two exports. Reports that can show one branch or every branch, on demand, are what actually makes multi-branch manageable instead of just doubling the admin work.
Decide member portability deliberately
Can a member who joined at Branch A check in at Branch B? This is a policy decision, not a technical afterthought — and it's much easier to decide once, clearly, than to answer inconsistently every time it comes up.
