A member with knee discomfort often assumes leg training is off the table entirely — in most cases, it just means selecting variations that load the knee differently.
Depth and range of motion can be adjusted, not eliminated
A partial range squat or leg press, rather than avoiding the movement entirely, often lets a member keep training the muscle group without aggravating the joint.
Machine-based options offer more control
Leg press and leg extension machines allow more precise control over range and load than free-weight squats, which can be a useful stepping stone for a knee still building tolerance.
